New York: Thomas Y. Crowell, 1943. First Edition. Variant binding with cross-hatched beige cloth as opposed to the typical smooth tan cloth (no known priority). Very Good plus in a Very Good or better dust jacket. Slight lean to binding, else book is bright and clean. Jacket is lightly nicked at the corners and spine ends, with the usual fading to the spine from red to pinkish-white. Basis for the 1946 film noir starring Claudette Colbert, Orson Welles and George Brent. [Book #104902]
