Nick's Film: Lightning Over Water

Frankfurt, Germany: Zweitausendeins, 1981. Small folio. First Edition, never reprinted to our knowledge. Red cloth, blue satin ribbon marker bound in, with a vertical paper band at the front board showing an illustration of Nicholas Ray and Wim Wenders. Boldly SIGNED by Wim Wenders with a flourish on the title page. A companion book to Wenders' 1980 film, "Lightning Over Water," a documentary in which Wenders joins his friend and hero, director Nicholas Ray, in New York City to discuss Ray's dying wish to make a film about a painter-- also dying-- who sails to China to find a cure for his disease. This uncommon book is every bit as loving a tribute to Ray as Wenders' film, photo-illustrated throughout with pale color stills from the film, and the complete text in both German and English. Introduction by Bernardo Bertolucci. Near Fine with no dust jacket as issued. [Book #106438]
