RKO, 1952. Original pressbook for the 1952 film noir, "The Las Vegas Story," directed by Robert Stevenson, based on a story by Jay Dratler. Written for the screen by Earl Felton and Harry Essex, and starring Jane Russell, Victor Mature, Vincent Price, and Hoagy Carmichael. Trying to cover his tracks in an embezzlement scheme, Lloyd Rollins (Vincent Price) uses his wife's, Linda (Jane Russell), necklace to establish a line of credit in Las Vegas. When the owner of the gambling house turns up dead and the necklace missing, Linda's former lover (Victor Mature) is assigned to the case. 15 pages, saddle stitched, 12 x 18 inches. Very Good plus condition. Faint horizontal fold crease at the center of the wrapper and pages. Neat stamp to the front wrapper, some light soiling overall and a tiny bit of wear to the edges. "The Las Vegas Story" became infamous for the controversy surrounding producer Howard Hughes' removal of writer Paul Jarrico's name from the credits due to Jarrico's alleged communist sympathies (which caused Jarrico to sue)--and famous for its climatic helicopter-versus-car finale. Silver and Ward, p. 394. [Book #110998]
