Los Angeles: Paramount, 1947. Original pressbook for the 1947 film noir, "Desert Fury," directed by Lewis Allen, based on the 1946 novel "Desert Town" by Ramona Stewart. Written for the screen by A.I. Bezzerides and Robert Rossen, and starring John Hodiak, Lizabeth Scott, Burt Lancaster, Wendell Corey, and Mary Astor. A rebellious girl (Lizabeth Scott) is torn between a gambler (John Hodiak) and a policeman (Burt Lancaster). 22 pages, saddle stitched, 12 1/4 x 15 inches.
Near Fine. Moderate horizontal fold crease at the center of the wrapper and pages. Minor wear along the hinge fold, wrappers slightly dusted. Laid in is a 10-page supplement, 9-1/2 x 14-3/4 inches, of additional advertising material, in Very Good plus or better condition with minor separation to the hinge fold. Overall, a remarkably bright and well-preserved example of the pressbooks of the era. One of the few films in the noir cycle to have been shot in Technicolor, the screen debut of Wendell Corey, and a movie-stealing performance by Mary Astor. [Book #111190]
