Culver City, CA: Columbia Pictures, 1948. Original pressbook for the 1948 film, "To The Ends of the Earth," directed by Robert Stevenson, written for the screen by Jay Richard Kennedy and an uncredited Sidney Buchman, and starring Dick Powell and Signe Hasso. A treasury agent (Dick Powell) is on the trail of an international opium ring. 16 pages, saddle stitched, 12 x 18 1/2 inches. Very Good condition. Faint horizontal fold crease at the center of the wrapper and pages. Separation at the center and heel and crown of the hinge fold. Wrappers and pages edges are very lightly frayed in spots. Laid in is a "Advertising Section" depicting various movie posters, also 12 x 18 1/2, and a smaller, 11 x 17 three panel foldout, both in Near Fine condition. A film that paved the way for other, grittier films to be made when Columbia pictures convinced the Production Code to relax its rules regarding subject matter, the subject matter in this case being drug smuggling.
