Los Angeles: United Artists, 1979. Revised Second Draft Script for the 1979 film, directed and written for the screen by Michael Mann, based on the 1975 novel "The Home Invaders" by Frank Hohimer.
Michael Mann's debut as a director found his trademark slick and atmospheric style fully formed on arrival, and as source material for a screenplay he chose a non-fiction memoir of a notorious Chicago jewel thief. An understated and intelligent film, with a score by Tangerine Dream and featuring one of James Caan's best performances.
