Song of the Thin Man

Los Angeles: Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer [MGM], 1947. Final script for the 1947 film. The sixth and final entry in what has been called by many the greatest mystery film series ever made, written by noted crime and adventure novelist and screenwriter Steve Fisher.

Nick and Norah find themselves, most conveniently, on board a gambling ship, where cocktails, jazz musicians, and suspects are waiting around every corner. Gloria Grahame plays the singer in the floating club's jazz orchestra, and debuts a sultry version of Herb Magidson and Ben Oakland's "You're Not So Easy to Forget."

Mustard yellow studio wrappers, stamped FILE COPY and VAULT COPY on the front wrapper, rubber-stamped project No. 5186 (and copy No. 2 on the Script Completion page), with credits for James O'Hanlon and Harry Crane (who wrote additional dialogue for the film), and dated 1-2-47. MGM inter-office memo on blue stock is bound in at the front noting some name changes for minor characters. 124 leaves, white stock, mimeograph, with pink revision pages throughout, dated variously between 1/20/47 and 2/11/47. The principal (white) leaves are also dated, variously, between 10/24/46 and 1/17/47. Pages Near Fine, wrapper Very Good plus, bound with two gold brads.
