Into the Pleasure Dome: The Films of Kenneth Anger
London: The British Film Institute [BFI], 1989. First Edition, a trade softcover original. INSCRIBED by Kenneth Anger to Robert Shapazian on the verso of the front wrapper: "For Robert Shapazian / Warmest wishes / Kenneth Anger." Shapazian was the director of the Gagosian Art Gallery in Los Angeles from 1995 until his death until 2010, as well as the director of the Venice-based Lapis Press from 1986-1994. He was considered one of the most influential figures in the West Coast modern art scene.
A typically thorough BFI production, with a detailed filmography, a long interview with Anger from 1971, and an analysis of all his work current to 1989.
Near Fine with some very light scuffing to the wrappers. An attractive copy of a most uncommon title, and a terrific association between a major experimental filmmaker and one of the great avatars of twentieth century culture. [Book #121523]
