Shooting script for the 1955 film noir, here under the working title "Code 3," with a sticker placed over the working title on the front wrapper reading "Dial Red O" in holograph pencil. Copy belonging to the film's editorial supervisor Lester A. Sansom, with his name in holograph ink on the front wrapper and the title page.
The first in a series of five noir entries, made between 1955-1957, featuring Bill Elliott as a detective lieutenant in the L.A. Sherriff's department. In this film the character's name is Andy Flynn--for the remaining films in the series his name wa changed to Andy Doyle, as there was an officer named Andy Flynn working in L.A. law enforcement at the time. One of the best examples of the well crafted low-budget crime films produced by Allied Artists, the B-movie studio that emerged from the Poverty Row studio Monogram Pictures in 1952.
Tan studio wrappers, with distribution page present, rubber-stamped copy No. 38, dated October 29, 1954, receipt removed. Title page integral with the first page of text. 99 leaves, mimeograph, with COLOR revision pages throughout, dated variously between 11-2-54 and 11-4-54. Pages and wrapper Very Good plus with light wear at the edges, bound with three gold brads.
