Burbank, CA: Warner Brothers, 1942. Original American program for the 1942 film, generally considered to be the greatest drama of the 1940s, and one of the most popular and iconic films of all time. The entire advertising campaign which would sell the public on a greatness that was, as it turns out, there. The film opened with a limited engagement in late 1942, though the official release was in 1943. These advance engagements, advertised in the first few pages of the book, allowed for development of the major theatrical displays and event campaigns that would follow. This early campaign also had a focus on the US alliance with France in 1943. Present are entire magazine layouts for advertising and story synopsis in both printed and photographic presentations, radio announcements, sheet music, special lobby displays, biographies, ad layouts, and of course, the entire run of theater exhibition posters and lobby cards. Also included is the 8-page advertising supplement. Saddle-stitched self-wrappers, 11 x 17 inches, oversize, 24 pages. Just about Fine condition, as nice a copy as one could imagine of the film that symbolized America in World War II perhaps more than any other. [Book #121919]
