MacDonald, John D.
The Deep Blue Good-by [Goodbye]
|
|
Philadelphia: J. B. Lippincott, 1975. First American Edition in hardcover, published as a paperback original by Fawcett in 1964. INSCRIBED by MacDonald to the dedicatee, editor Knox Burger, on the dedication page. The printed dedication reads, "For Knox Burger / McGee's first editor," below which MacDonald has written in red ink, "And only editor? / John D." Also laid in is a publisher's proof of the dedication page, clearly a little additional gift from the author to his friend and colleague.
Finally, laid in is a typed letter signed from Royce H. Allen, writer for "Mystery Scene," to Burger, dated October 29, 1991, regarding an interview conducted with Burger for the magazine.
Top page edges slightly dusty, else Near Fine in a bright, about Near Fine dust jacket with a small closed tear at the bottom of the front panel and minute rubbing at the corners. Some fading to the top edges of the boards, and jacket is minutely rubbed at the spine ends. A very colorful example. Travis McGee. Jacket illustration by Don Brautigam. [Book #122641]
