Gone WIth the Wind

New York: Selznick International, 1939. Partial Shooting script (as issued) for the 1939 film. This an early draft of the shooting script belonging to Ann Rutherford, who portrayed Scarlett O"Hara's sister Carreen O'Hara in the film. As with many Selznick shooting scripts, this script was issued in an incomplete form in order for shooting to begin and for the actors to work out their parts. The script includes Scarlett O'Hara's first meeting with Rhett Butler, along with several changes in dialogue and a few scenes that did not wind up in the final cut of the film. The script is dated February 27, 1939, the point at which Victor Fleming took over filming from the departing George Cukor.

Accompanying the script is Ms. Rutherford's script for "The Courtship of Andy Hardy," along with a letter of provenance providing a history of Ms. Rutherford's family's ownership.

One of the greatest and most well-remembered films of the twentieth century, and an enduring symbol of Hollywood's "golden era," Winner of 10 Academy Awards (a record that stood for 20 years), including Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Screenplay.

Pale green studio wrappers, noted as SHOOTING SCRIPT on the front wrapper, dated February 27, 1939. Distribution page present, with receipt removed. 43 leaves, mimeograph. Pages Fine, wrapper Near Fine, bound with two gold brads. Script encased in a custom cloth slipcase with images from the film, and a folding cloth chemise.
