A potboiler romance written by Mussolini in 1909, early in his political career, prior to his becoming the 40th Prime Minister of Italy and the most popular figure associated with the creation of Fascism. Translator Hiram Motherwell explains in her introduction that Mussolini wrote the story in serial form for the weekly entertainment supplement to the Italian Socialist publication "Il Popolo," "La Vita Trentina." He was at the time of its publication the Secretary to the Socialist Chamber of Labour. The first jacketed example we have ever seen, and lacking the library markings normally found. [Book #123674]
