Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy

London: British Broadcasting Corporation [BBC], 1979. Original UK subway poster advertising the 1979 television mini-series.

Alec Guinness played the role of his career not on the silver screen but on the television screen for the BBC, from a screenplay co-written by John le Carre, based on his 1974 novel. A performance so powerful that le Carre said that after seeing it he could no longer visualize his own character, George Smiley, as anyone other than Guinness. Generally thought to be one of the most literate and faithful adaptations from espionage literature ever made, and followed by a sequel in 1982, "Smiley's People," also adapted for BBC television by le Carre.

30 x 46 inches, double-sided (i.e., mounted on the opposite side of an older poster), on masonite as issued. Very Good and quite striking, but with expected moderate wear. Shipping billed at cost.
