King Crimson at Fairfield–Croydon, Sunday, May 30th

London: Fairfield Hall, 1971. Original 1971 poster promoting a performance by King Crimson at Fairfield Hall in Croydon, London. The performance followed the release of the band's third album, "Lizard," and was one of the first shows with the Robert Fripp/Pete Sinfield/Boz Burrell/Ian Wallace/Mel Collins lineup. The opening act, mentioned in the bottom left corner, is Roger Ruskin Spear and His Giant Kinetic Wardrobe (ex-Bonzo Dog Band.)

King Crimson in transition. The band had found great success with "In the Court of the Crimson King," but moved into the first of what would be several interesting transformations in the 1970s that would end in 1974 with the peerless "Starless and Bible Black" and "Red." The only poster from the 1970s with a band photo that we have ever encountered.

31 x 39.5 inches. Some color loss along the three the horizontal folds, a tiny bit of loss at the bottom edge, Very Good plus overall, archivally mounted on rice paper.
