Stevenson, Robert Louis
The Body Snatcher
|
|
New York: Merriam, 1895. First Edition. Four full-page wood-engraved illustrations by A.S. Hartrick (including frontispiece). An especially bright, unrestored copy of Stevenson's underrated horror classic, in our opinion the literary equal of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, and certainly much scarcer. Basis for the classic Val Lewton film, one of only a few horror films that qualify as film noir, directed in 1945 by Robert Wise and starring Boris Karloff and Bela Lugosi.
About Near Fine in original violet cloth, with only light rubbing to corners, spine ends and rear panel. Spine lettering and design are very slightly faded, but still clean, present and fully readable.
In a custom folding clamshell and matching slipcase with quarter-leather spine, raised bands, and gilt titles. [Book #75118]
