London: Hutchinson, 1901. First UK Edition (and first edition in English), Very Good plus overall. Original red cloth, with design and titles in gilt, lavender and blind. The spine panel has had a bit of professional color restoration (but no rebacking or re-application of title gilt). A very presentable example of a scarce title, basis for the 1954 film noir, "Human Desire," directed by Fritz Lang and starring Glenn Ford, Gloria Grahame and Broderick Crawford. [Book #84357]
