Fine in a Fine gray cloth box with a signed and dated bas-relief by Jim Dine inset in the lid. Jim Dine's narrative in 18 photogravures is bound in full gray cloth as an accordion fold album and with a companion book, "The Madonna of the Future" by Henry James. Dine contributes a photogravure and one tipped in photograph to this edition of James' story. Arthur C. Danto has written an introductory essay on the story and prints. Both James and Dine were inspired (to different ends) by the same original figurine of a cat and a monkey in human clothes. Ape and Cat: accordion-fold album, 16 x 12-1/2 inches, opening out to 23 feet in width, intaglio printing by the R.E. Townsend Studio from plates made by Jeno Gindl on German Hahnemuhle Copperplate paper. Bas-relief, 5-14 x 6-3/4 inches, in lead alloy inset cast at the foundry of M and H Type from mold made at the Walla Walla Foundry.
