Presentation copy, one of an undetermined number of copies stamped "BURNS ARCHIVE NO." on the verso of the title page (this copy hand-numbered 59) and INSCRIBED by the author to noted bookseller Joanna Grimes on the verso of the title page, below the limitation statement: "Presented to / Joanna Grimes of the Old Hickory Bookshop for a decade of support of my photohistorical collecting and writing / This 4 of April 88 / With much appreciation / Stanley B. Burns, M.D."

Laid in is an accompanying typed letter signed from Burns to Ms. Grimes (then proprietor of the Old Hickory Bookshop), a portion of which reads: .".Because of people such as yourself, my Archive has grown to be an important cultural institution in America."
