Venice: Venice International Film Festival, 1952. Director John Ford's framed International Award from the Venice International Film Festival for his classic 1952 film, "The Quiet Man." Ford also received a nomination for the Golden Lion Award at the same festival and went on to win the 1953 Academy Award for Best Director for the film. Begun in 1932, the Venice Festival is one of the most prestigious film events in the world, second only to Cannes, and the oldest fillm festival still being held.
28 x 20 inches, original black wood frame. Unexamined out of frame, but the award certificate appears to be in Fine condition, and the frame is Very Good with a bit of edgewear, with evidence that the backing has been removed. Presumably this either the frame in which the award was presented or the one Ford had made for it. A unique piece of film history from one of the iconic director's most critically acclaimed films.
