The trials and tribulations of a Methodist minister and his family who move from failing parish to failing parish in order to assist with their revitalization. Warner Brothers hired radio host Reverend Norman Vincent Peale to consult on the film. A surprise hit amongst critics and theatergoers, the film was heralded as an honest portrait of a man trying to live an exemplary life, shot in an eloquently simple manner. Nominated for an Academy Award for Best Picture.
