High Wray

London: John Gifford, 1952. First Edition. Basis for the 1954 film noir "Heat Wave" directed by Hughes and starring Alex Nicol and Hillary Brooke. Hughes was a prolific film director and screenwriter, with "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang" (1968) and "Casino Royale" (1967), the first James Bond spoof, to his credit.

Very Good plus in a Very Good plus example of the scarce dust jacket. Slight spine lean, boards lightly mottled, owner inscription on the front endpaper obscured by correction fluid, and light foxing. Some loss to the jacket spine ends, with light rubbing and foxing overall, tiny cello-tape repairs on the verso, and short corner creases to the jacket flaps.

Not to be confused with the common Thriller Book Club edition, and one of the more difficult of the author's few titles.
