New York: Crown Publishers, 1945. First Edition. Not to be confused with the later Crown collection of Hecht's writings titled "A Treasury of Ben Hecht: Collected Stories and Other Writings," published in 1959. Introductory notes by the author.
The only appearance in print of Ben Hecht's short story, "Specter of the Rose," basis for the bizarre 1946 film noir.
Very Good plus in a Very Good dust jacket. Spine ends lightly bumped, light soil to the front board, page edges lightly foxed. Moderate foxing and shelfwear to the jacket, with a large closed tear to the rear panel, and a large tear (repaired on the verso with cello tape) to the rear spine fold.
