Based on the novel by Mildred Savage, about a young man growing up on a tobacco farm. Several popular stars of the era were originally attached to this production, including director Joshua Logan, Clark Gable, Vivien Leigh, Warren Beatty, and Jane Fonda. Marks the second film credit for Diane McBain.
