Based on Erich Maria Remarque's 1954 novel, about a company of German soldiers on the Russian front during WWII. One of the soldiers is sent home, where, finding his home bombed, he struggles for his sanity and survival with the help of the daughter of a political prisoner.

Set on the Russian front and in Germany during World War II, shot on location in Berlin.
