Based on the 1911 play by George Bernard Shaw, starring Leslie Caron as the wife of an artist (Dirk Bogarde) who is dying of tuberculosis. She enlists the help of a very busy doctor who, upon learning the artist is really a con-man with greedy tendencies, in faced with a dilemma: help the desperate wife by curing the artist, or tend to other patients in need?
