Based on the play "Fleur de cactus" by Barillet and Gredy, starring Walter Matthau as Julian Winston, physician and lover to Toni Simmons, played by Goldie Hawn in her first starring role. Julian tells women he's married to avoid getting involved, annoying Toni. When Julian decides to become exclusive with Toni, she insists on meeting his wife and Julian enlists the aid of his receptionist Stephanie Dickinson (Ingrid Bergman) to act the part.

Shot on location in New York.
