Based on a story by Leonard Mosley, about a civil servant who is sentenced to death for murder, but reveals that he has long been a foreign spy. He meets with Inspector Brown (Terence Morgan) and offers to reveal the identity of a spy in return for a reprieve. Before the execution, Brown sets out to trace the identity of the spy without having to reprieve the civil servant.
