The Revolt of the Dead [The Revolt of the Savage]

N.p. N.p. 1932. Treatment script for tan unproduced film called 'The Revolt of the Dead," with an alternate title, "The Revolt of the Savage," written for screen by Gouverneur Morris and Gerrit Lloyd, from a story suggested by Tod Browning. Holograph notations in pencil on one page, and in blue pencil on two pages.

Story set in Africa, where an Englishman named Trelawney believes he has discovered a rich oil dome with the help of Boris Odelosi, a Hungarian engineer. Elements from previous Browning films (notably "West of Zanzibar," 1928) sprinkle the treatment, including voodoo, a witch doctor character named Loogo who can seemingly bring the dead back to life, stigmata, and murder.

Light blue wrappers, dated October 26, 1932. Title page present, dated October 26, 1932, with credits for script writers Morris and Lloyd, as well as a credit for Browning. 73 leaves, mimeograph. Pages Near Fine, wrapper Very Good plus, with light foxing and short closed tears, bound with two gold brads.
