Robert Kilbride (1924-1998) was an artist who attended the Academie de la Grande Chaumiere in Paris in 1949. Following his studies in Europe, he taught art in and around the Minneapolis area, including the Minneapolis School of Art and the Walker Art School. While teaching, he was partner with Byron Bradley in the Kilbride-Bradley Art Gallery in Minneapolis (1951-1980). Kilbride produced a newsletter titled "The Potboiler" to promote the gallery and authored this book as a result (with a revised edition published in 1970). His work is included in the collections of the Minneapolis Institute of Arts, Walker Art Center, the University of Minnesota, and the Minnesota Historical Society.
