INSCRIBED by the author-screenwriter on the half-title page to actress Joanne Woodward: "To Joanne / Who has more than a touch of Jacataqua / With warm regards / Elliott." File copy belonging to Metro-Goldyn-Mayer film studios, with their rubber stamps and annotations in holograph ink on the front endpaper, including a date of 06/23/64 (the year Woodward was starring in the MGM film, "Signpost to Murder").

Basis for the 1966 Irvin Kershner film, distributed by Warner Brothers, with the screenplay written by Baker. Samson Shillitoe (Sean Connery), a frustrated poet lives with Rhoda (Joanne Woodward), a trustworthy waitress. When his writing proves to be too troublesome, Samson sees a psychiatrist, at the behest of Rhoda, and his philandering continues. Connery starred in "Goldfinger" just two years prior (1964), and the same charm and wit he eschewed as James Bond is seen in his Samson.

Near Fine in a Very Good plus dust jacket. Extremities lightly toned, faint mottling. Tiny tears at the jacket extremities, lightly toned and rubbed overall.
