The Fifth Day of Peace [Gott Mit Uns] [God's On Our Side]

Italy: Clesi Cinematografica, 1969. Typescript Treatment script for the 1970 film, "The Fifth Day of Peace," here under the working title, "Gott Mit Uns!!," its translated title being "God's On Our Side." Laid in is a single typescript leaf (author unknown), dated 9/8/69, detailing the story outline, and noting the possibility of actor Max von Sydow taking on the lead role of "Falkenstein," the commanding officer of the German POW's. Sydow would ultimately not take part in the film. Brief notation in manuscript ink on two pages.

Based on a story by Andrea Barbato, whose film credits include "Kill Me Quick, I'm Cold" (1967), "Morel's Invention" (1974), and the television miniseries, "Caravaggio" (1967). The story involves German deserters and their trial by fellow POWs inside a prisoner of war camp in the waning days of WWII, the fifth day of peace to be exact.

Title page present, undated but preceded by a "copyright" page dated 2/5/69 in manuscript ink, and crediting the Clesis Cinematografica production company. 158 leaves, with last leaf of text numbered 154, and a laid-in leaf. Typescript on onionskin stock. Pages Near Fine, wrapper Very Good plus, bound internally with two gold brads. Laid-in leaf Near Fine, with brief annotations in manuscript pencil and a few typeovers.
