Ornette Coleman and Orchestra in Concert at The Greek Theatre

Berkeley, CA: The Greek Theatre, 1968. One-color lithograph handbill designed by legendary psychedelic poster artist Dore, advertising a performance by Ornette Coleman and his ensemble at the Greek Theatre's "Sun Suite Festival" in Berkeley on August 11, 1968.

A watershed period for Coleman, who only two years earlier had made the controversial decision to add his ten-year-old son Denardo to his band as the drummer on the then-criticized and now-classic album, "The Empty Foxhole." The young drummer's unrefined yet highly distinctive style drove Coleman's music into entirely new directions, and becoming his primary drummer, continued to evolve his art for the next three decades.

7 x 4.5 inches. Fine.
