A Family en route to New Guinea is ambushed by pirates and shipwrecked on an uninhabited tropical island. The survivors come across a young woman who subsequently becomes the love interest of the two brothers. Together, the family transforms the island into a small paradise, living harmoniously with its numerous exotic species, and fending off pirates when necessary. A version of the film was produced by RKO Pictures in the 1940s, which attracted the interest of Walt Disney and Bill Anderson, who later produced the 1960 remake. Various filming locations were considered before the team decided on the Trinidadian island of Tobago.

Set in a tropical Island, shot on location in Trinidad and Tobago and England.
