Although he only made four films before his death from tuberculosis at the age 29, Jean Vigo would come to have an outsized influence on cinema, particularly the French New Wave, with Truffaut in particular paying homage to the anarchic boarding school students in "Zero for Conduct" during the classroom and recess scenes in "The 400 Blows."
