A modern retelling of the gospels of the Bible, set in modern New York (and a junkyard where Jesus is crucified). Based on Tebelak's 1971 book, and the 1973 Broadway play, and noted for its controversial costuming of religions figures in "hippie garb."

Nominated for a Palme d'Or at the 1973 Cannes Film Festival.
