Submarine Raider [Missing Submarine]

Culver City, CA: Columbia Pictures, 1942. Final Draft script for the 1942 film, here under the working title "Missing Submarine." Copy belonging to Marguerite Chapman, who played Sue Curry in the film, with a few annotations in holograph pencil at the inclusion of her character's lines. Laid in is a singing telegram birthday greeting for Chapman, from Evelyn Keys, in its original telex envelope.

A Japanese aircraft carrier is headed to Pearl Harbor December 6, 1941 when it encounters an American yacht and sinks it. Sue Curry (Chapman) is the yacht's sole survivor and she is picked up by an American submarine, which intercepts the proposed attack on Pearl Harbor and tries to warn American forces in advance. The next day, they hear news of the attack over the radio and devise a plan to have the carrier pursue their submarine instead of heading to its intended target.

Set in the Pacific Ocean.
