The wife of a bootlegger in the backwoods dies while giving birth to her seventh child and her husband falls off the roof in a drunken stupor, thus leaving the seven children orphaned. Following the guidance of the oldest sibling, children seek replacement parents by goading strangers with the youngest and most attractive siblings into taking them in. The new "parents" must then pass a test to see if they are qualified.

Set in the American South, shot on location in Lebanon, Tennessee.
