A local criminal escapes from prisoner transport and bounty hunter Regan Chance is hot on his trail, as well as the mysterious J, another bounty hunter working for the father of the escaped, who wants his son brought back alive. Chance remains one step ahead of the cops in cracking the case of where the kid ended up but still ends up in a final showdown with the criminal trying to flee to Mexico and everyone trying to kill someone else.

Set in California.
