Based on the 1933 novel "The Forty Days of Musa Dagh" by Franz Werfel, the story addresses the beginning of the Armenian Genocide, focusing on the self-defense of a small community located near the Musa Dagh Mountain. The story is nonfiction and the novel was one of the first looks and studies of genocide in the modern world, ironically and purposefully written during the rise of Adolf Hitler and German Fascism and foreshadowing the horrors of the Holocaust.
Set in the Ottoman Empire.
