N.p. UFA, 1941. First Edition. Hungarian film annual for German films released between 1931 and 1941, containing full page advertisements for 31 films, several with stunning illustrated transparency overlays. Bound in printed wooden boards, as issued.
The majority of the films were released by UFA, although Terra-Filmkunst and Wien Film are also represented among the smaller studios, reflecting the increasing nationalization of the German film industry under the Third Reich. In the following year, all German studios would become subsumed into UFA-Film GmbH and reorganized as the film wing of the Nazi party.
Included among the films listed are several propaganda films, including anti-Semitic films "The Rothschilds" (1940) and "Jus Suss" (1940), war films such as "U-Boat, Course West!" (1941), as well non-political films such as "Women Are Better Diplomats" (1941), a musical comedy and the first German color film, and "Paganini: The Devil's Violinist," presumably a biography of the Italian musician that appears to be lost to the point of being completely unknown to our sources.
Illustrated wooden boards bound with three silver rings. Boards Very Good plus. Interior pages bright and generally Near Fine, most overlays missing, several loose leaves but complete with no missing pages. About Very Good overall.
