Included in the archive are photographs and flyers for well known acts such as Earl Hines, Roy Eldridge, The Royalettes, legendary gospel singers The Fairfield Four, and the International Sweethearts of Rhythm, a big band era swing band that was the first integrated, all-female band in the United States. Additionally, the archive contains photographs of small, local acts, primarily from Baltimore, that are otherwise unknown to us.

All in all, a broad survey of African American musical acts from the middle of the twentieth century, highlighting not just stars, but promotional material from bands that performed in local clubs and concert halls without ever receiving wider recognition.
