King Kong
Culver City, CA: RKO Radio Pictures, 1932. Vintage double weight reference photograph from the 1932 film.
A rare glimpse behind the scenes of a film that was a triumph of design, practical effects, and cinematography. Fay Wray, the actors playing the natives of Kong Island, and the crew prepare for one of the film's most memorable scenes: Ann Darrow (Wray) being brought to the altar of Kong, standing at nearly the exact center of the image, while Cooper, cinematographers and crew stand on a rolling mount with the camera. A few year later the "great wall" in this image, a truly cost-effective prop, would come crashing down in flames during the burning of Atlanta in "Gone with the Wind."
8 x 10 inches. Near Fine.
