Paris: Cinedis, 1959. Collection of 33 original borderless single weight still photographs from the 1959 French release (as "Resurrection") of the 1958 West German-Italian-French film. Action sequences, images of smoking women in brothels, and head-shots of starring actors throughout. Numerical annotations in manuscript pencil, and some in ink, on the versos.

Based on Tolstoy's last novel, "Resurrection" (1899), a statement on the hypocrisy of the Church. Katjuschka (Bru) is a maid who's dalliance with military commander Nechljudoff (Buchholz) ruins her career, landing her on the street working as a prostitute. Later, she is accused of murder and Nechljudoff is on the jury.

7 x 9.25 inches, printed rectos on French "Gevaert" photo paper. Very Good plus overall, with light curling, and a few brief creases.
