A Kiss for a Killer [Une manche et la belle]

Nice: Studios de la Victorine, 1957. Original black-and-white single weight still photograph from the 1957 French film, here under the original title, "Une manche et la belle." Vidal and Demongeot are seen sunbathing worriedly on marble. Numerical annotations in holograph pencil, French film title, and Demongeot's and Vidal's names in holograph ink, on the versos.

Noirish murder drama loosely based on Chase's novel "The Sucker Punch" (1954). Betty Farnwell (Miranda) is a rich widow living in Nice with a bewitching daughter, Eva (Demongeot). Betty marries Philippe (Vidal), a good-looking but self-interested man. Cue Eva. Philippe falls for the calculating, femme fatale, who has plans to marry someone else. Betty's life is in danger as Philippe struggles with his transgressions.

7 x 9.25 inches (17.75 x 23.5 cm), small white border at the foot. Very Good plus, with brief ink on the recto, and faint creases.

Selby France.
