New York: Sheridan House, 1938. First Edition. The author's first book in the rare dust jacket.
A collection of short pieces from his days as a reporter for The New York World-Telegram, The New York Herald Tribune and The New Yorker. Anecdotally it has been said that Mitchell would not allow this book to be reissued in his lifetime because of some racial characterizations that are now considered inappropriate. This may be the case but Mitchell's writing, while never precious, could hardly be considered insensitive. One of only a few jacketed copies we have ever encountered.
Fine in a Near Fine example of the rare dust jacket. Jacket is a bit shorter than the book, and has undergone a bit of professional restoration.
