Two criminals, Elsie and Johnny, cross paths with Morgan, a down-and-out man who used to be a minister before his life fell apart and he took to drinking. Johnny coerces Elsie into posing as an evangelical healer and under Morgan's tutelage she begins to amass a congregation. As they rake in money, the scam takes a toll on the three of them in different ways.
