Max Julien's 1st Annual Spook Festival

N.p. N.p., 1979. Vintage two sided flyer, which doubles as an invitation, for "Max Julien's 1st Annual Spook Festival," held on April 13, 1979.

Proceeds from the event, which was billed as a Halloween costume party (and held on Friday the 13th), benefitted the Western States Black Research Center Building Fund, and scenes from the party were filmed for Julien's film "Danger Bag," although it does not appear the film was ever released.

Max Julien is a key figure in the 1970s blaxploitation scene, starring in the classic "The Mack" (1973), writing the screenplay for "Cleopatra Jones" (also 1973), and writing and starring in "Thomasine and Bushrod" (1974).

14 x 8.5 inches (36 x 22), folded to 3.5 x 8.5 inches. Very Good plus, with a manuscript ink alteration to an image of Julien.
