Frankenheimer, like many directors who came into their prime during the 1950s and 1960s, finally embraced the idea of doing an epic picture. But rather than making yet another overblown war picture or an epic romance, he chose the Grand Prix, and with spectacular results.

Shot on location in England, Belgium, France, Monaco, Italy, the Netherlands, and California.
