With a holograph notation in red ink on the front wrapper indicating copy number 82, and holograph annotations in red ink on two pages of the text indicating changed scene numbers.
A scientist seeking to create new skin for himself after a mobster's acid attack leaves him disfigured finds instead that the experiment gives him superhuman abilities. Director and screenwriter Sam Raimi wanted to adapt a comic book superhero, but was unable to gain the rights to Batman or The Shadow, and thus Darkman was born.
